Hallmark Sets a Benchmark on Global Platform

The Nalayaks, the robotics team of Hallmark Public School Panchkula feels ecstatic on its splendid triumph of ‘Best Robot Design for Strategy Innovation’ Award amongst 91 teams from 36 different countries in the FLL International Open Championship at the University of Bath, Bath (United Kingdom). India stands proud to witness its budding technical experts – Jatin Chhabra, Pankhuri Garg, and Kunal Garg – at such a tender age making their country win such a significant award and get recognised at a global platform.
Once again the Nalayaks have proved that they are Genius. The team believes that it’s their perspective that matters the most. As impossible says- “I’m Possible”. NALAYAKS “NA! (WE ARE) Layaks.” Interestingly the three musketeers have put it in a right way that perspective does matter and perhaps it is an integral part of mankind and its history.
The Nalayaks are the Genius
Exhuberant over their achievement at an international platform, Jatin Chhabra-the captain of the Nalayaks exclaimed, “The very thought of participating in the international competition and competing with foreign kids itself was as thrilling as the actual experience. Despite increasing politicization among different nations, especially a country like Pakistan, we had altogether a different experience. Our interaction with other teams, to some extent, bridged the gap and enhanced the mutual understanding & global unity.” When asked about their Robot Design, Jatin said, “It requires remarkable inventiveness, imagination, exceptionally hard work with an earnest strategy to build an innovative and incredible robot that can perform the assigned tasks impeccably in specific time limit apart from having a visual appeal.”
It is the invincible attitude and the undaunted will power of the entire team inclusive of Pankhuri Garg- Robot Operator-cum-Project Lead and Kunal Garg- the Chief Programmer that such an exceptional achievement could have been possible.
Feeling on the top of the world, Parkhuri Garg shared, “It was really an exciting and fun global robotics-based, life skills challenge program that ignited in us an enthusiasm for discovery, science, and technology. We spent most of our time in the school laboratory developing the most innovative, economical and effective solution to the problem of ‘Varroa mite’ for our project enticed us to think like scientists and engineers. More challenging was to represent India as well as striving to create a niche at international level. Now that we have won this competition, it is certainly going to brighten up our profile.”
Kunal Garg, who has already represented India in MOS Championship-USA, shared his team’s journey to the University of Bath, UK how they used to feel butterflies in their stomach before every challenge, “Representing India and endeavouring not to let down our motherland amongst 36 nations was the real pressure and challenge. But with a firm faith and strong conviction in our hearts, we went ahead amidst critical analyses and feedback of our performance provided by the panel of jury and won the Best Robot Design for Strategy Innovation award.”
Benchmark on Global Platform
Mr. Jivtesh Garg-Director of Hallmark Public School congratulated the team Nalayaks for its glorious victory in the FLL International Championship and also wished them the best of luck for the future.
Calling it a fantastic accomplishment, Ms. KavitaWadhwa-Principal of the school felicitated the team members for setting another benchmark on a global platform.

Human Animal Relationship

The competition is wholly and solely based on the criteria of Human and Animal Relationship. The focus is to find such progress in which the animal gets all the benefits without any material interference of humans in their natural habitat. The robot operated by the team will take care of the working mechanism which will further help the animals to grow well and nurture in their areas. The project aims at building better and mutual understanding between the two. The human efforts to counter different problems faced by the variety of animals are the biggest challenge for the team.

Successive role of the School

The Hallmark Public School focuses on Intellectual, spiritual, emotional and aesthetic development of every student. It provides wonderful opportunity to the students in the field of art, culture, dance, acting, public speaking, social interaction, quizzing, environment awareness and scientific relevance. The school is a prestigious temple in Panchkula and the mission of the school is to see each student of Hallmark develop their own potential to contribute to the welfare of mankind. School has given a golden chance to the team NALAYAK and the team also feels grateful to the school and its constant encouragement has kept the team enlivened.

Learning and Principles

The competition is based on the three principle theory which is essential for the team to win the ultimate challenge in the field. Those beliefs are building core values between the team members and the teams respectively, project design which includes innovation, ideas, efforts, techniques and model construction and last but not the least is Robot designing which again talks about the importance of artificial intelligence and its value in the present world. These three are the key features which aim to select the best team in the competition. If the team has these three qualities; undoubtedly the winning is inevitable.

What is with the bees?

The team NALAYAK is not limiting its imagination of intelligence to the project theme only. They have been working on another rising problem which is mounting extinction of bees in the world. The team explained the various means through which the problem can be curbed in its natural haitat without causing any further damage to the environment. They highlighted an economical solution to the problem and emphasied on ‘BEES – VITAL IMPORTANCE IN THE NATURE.’ Their ultimate aim is to save and protect the bees from getting extinct forever and are working extensively on the same.

Driven by the Prime Force; SCHOOL

The Hallmark Public School has laid its major attention on the team and invested all resources in order to fulfil the requirements of the project. The team has been completely funded by the school and thus team gives its utmost credit to the the school for their abundant success. “The School has been an energetic force all through our journey and faculty has supported us at every point”, says Jatin the Captain of the Team NALAYAKS.

Hallmark Public School believes in “The best way to predict the future is to invent now.”

Know Their Robot

The Robot game is not lucid as it seems. There is months of preparations and dedication involved and of course most of the time is dedicated in making of a Chassis. Chassis is the base which will decide the fortune of the team. Every team plan and build it with the help of design and mechanical assistance of their team members and further programming is done to carry forward the game.

The NALAYAKS chassis is a wonder box and they are proud of it. They have put in their best efforts to create a chassis which has many scandalizing features. It is something where your trust lies in. The NALAYAKS chassis has 3 colour sensors which instantly take commands and follow it up during the game, they have designed racks which are meant to complete the tasks, they have build various cages of different sizes which can be quickly fit in or get attached to the chassis in a few seconds; saving their precious time and making them score more.

The Gear Job

Gears are something which can make you perplexed as well as put you in a dilemma at the same time. One has to be very careful while using them. The NALAYAKS have used many different Gears in their Chassis and they are very confident about their unique qualities. The kind of gears chosen is Bevel gears, Tooth gears, crown gears, Pinion and Dog gears. One very important thing to be kept in mind while attaching them with chassis is the gap or the distance required between the gears, their sizes and suitability. Gears monitors and works as driving mechanism to the chassis. Pankhuri the project head of the team said, “Dog gears are my personal favourite because of its clutch mechanism that helps in quicker attachment between the cages and the chassis.” Pinions are basically driving gears, they speed up the chassis and crown gears are powerful, rough and tough, they are also called knob gears. Streamlined use of hear suitability is again important. The team thus is applying different mechanism to tackle various challenges and overcoming complexities of the game.

Distinctiveness of their Rob

Not many are good at taking risks but when it comes to The NALAYAK, they are up for turning any stone in every possible way! They have used Gyro sensors which have not been used by any of the team presently in the competition. They are also known as angular velocity sensors. They are sharp and sensitive in nature. It work as a magnet or compass in the chassis. It is a product of future electronics. They are many types of gyro sensors, it is very important that you pick the most suitable one for your chassis. There qualities are that they are angle sensing and works as control mechanisms for the chassis. The team gives Kunal every bit of praise since he is the programmer and has done great research in knowing it.

Create and Ideate

Designing and Programming are two imperative words which hold an essential significance in the Robot game. Designing helps in creating the structure of the Robot and programming helps in directing it. These two moves parallel to each other. They are of great strategic significance. There are different mechanisms which are used to run the Robot and some analyses is done to accomplish the mission. Not only this, one has to keep vigilance over the rival teams because their strategies will affect the score in the final game. The Robot game requires active research. A lot of parallel planning is done before creating the final structure of the chassis.  Chassis or a Robot box is the most important device on which the game is relied upon.

Chasing an apt Chassis

It usually takes months to build a chassis because all the tasks are supposed to be performed by it. The “Chassis or the Robot is our strength in the game; our months of hard work and practices will portray our efforts by it. It is the key to success. It is a golden device which will help us win the game.” said by the captain of the team. Captain Jatin has been working on the project since a good time now and has full-fledged knowledge about its operations.

Chassis made by The NALAYAKS has color sensors which in itself is a superb innovation. “The size and type of the wheels used, distances between the gears, angle and weight of the Robot, kind of motors to fit in and choosing the right tracks and cages is what makes a chassis a perfect Robot.” said the head programmer of the team. He has done an intensive research on Robot development and is known as an apt consultant in the team. The game is majorly dependent on how you build your robot and its essential features, nature of devices and of course the technical skills applied while developing it.

If you have a technical clarity of the subject then in no time you shall meet excellence in it. True said The NALAYAKS have expanded their comfort zones and build a rare challenge for rest of the teams.  In one of the rounds they place their robot in at upside-down position which can fetch extra points to them. They find it a pioneering strategy for the team which proves the hard-hitting feature of the Robot. “We have worked upon different attachments and structure making of the Robot and have taken care of its delicacy by drawing a lot of information and learning from different websites.” said by Pankhuri, the project head of the team.

“We celebrate diversities through these kind of competitions, it is a perfect platform for children to grow and nurture as natural leaders.” said by the Principal and mentor of the team, Miss Kavita.
